Day 7 - Loch Garten and Insh Marshes

So I woke this morning in disbelief. It was actually dry on the ground outside, and we hadn't had, or had little of the rain that was forecast overnight.

We hadn't walked Izzy for a day or so, therefore we decided to get out and take her for a walk around the nearby Loch at Loch Morlich which is about 3 miles away. We parked up, paid and put the parking ticket in the window and set off on our walk.

Another car park!

Finally some blue sky!

We came back after thoroughly enjoying the walk, and had some lunch. We needed to go to a nearby town to get petrol for the way home, and so we went out for another walk! This time at an RSPB reserve at Loch Insh.

This walk, although I thought it'd be through marshes (not sure why!), it ended up being more a woodland walk. It was interesting to see the difference between a lot of the pine forest walks we had done. After the RSPB walk we went on last year, I had learnt about Aspen trees and noticed most of the trees here were of that variety. They make a very distinct sounds when the wind blows, and it was quite windy!

Aspens trees and more blue sky!

About halfway through the was we walked through a field, and turned back into a birch woodland, which was very spooky looking!

It took us quite a while to walk around, and Izzy was certainly tired at the end. We popped to the petrol station afterwards and then headed back to the lodge for the evening.
